Victoria Rooms news for March 2020

Tickets for Somerset Opera’s performance of Iolanthe on Saturday 28 March 2020 are available now and are selling fast. Doors open at 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start. There will be a bar. Somerset Opera are always very popular when they visit Milverton, so don’t miss out. Tickets, costing £10.00 each, can be purchased from Milverton Stores or by ringing Sue on 01823 400609.

Following the disappointment last year when the brilliant Australian Boogie Woogie pianist, Jan Preston, had to cancel her concert in the Victoria Rooms following a fall in which she broke both wrists, we are delighted to announce that she is now fully recovered and has managed to fit Milverton into her busy 2020 touring schedule. The date for the concert is Saturday 16 May and further details on how to obtain tickets will be available in next month’s magazine. This concert is bound to sell out very quickly as Jan is an amazing performer and her last appearance at the Victoria Rooms in July 2012 left the audience spellbound – definitely an evening not to be missed!

The Victoria Rooms’ Fundraising Committee are always on the lookout for interesting and imaginative events at which to raise money to pay for the upkeep of our village hall so, if you have a brilliant idea for a fundraiser but are not sure how to go about it, please give Sue a call on 01823 400609 and we will be very happy to help.

You can also support our village hall by purchasing a ticket for the Somerset West Lottery and selecting the Victoria Rooms as your chosen charity. For each ticket purchased, the Victoria Rooms receives 50p. So far, we have received over £560.00 from this source so many thanks to everyone who has supported the Lottery and nominated the Victoria Rooms as their chosen charity. To purchase your tickets, go to the Somerset West Lottery website and search for Milverton Victoria Rooms. Good luck!

Don’t forget to visit the market in the Victoria Rooms on the first Saturday of the month. There are stalls selling a wide range of items, many of them homemade or home grown locally. You can also sit and relax in the Reading Room while enjoying a cup of coffee and slice of cake – what better way to spend a Saturday morning! There may be vacancies for stalls over the coming months and, if you are interested in booking, please ring Sally on 01823 400320 to check availability.
