Victoria Rooms open after Lockdown 2

The village hall will re-open on Wednesday 2 December 2020 for the limited purposes permitted by Tier 2 coronavirus restrictions. We will continue to operate in a Covid-Secure manner, which means that hirers must comply with our Special Conditions of Hire. The Kitchen will remain closed for the time being.

The Tier 2 restrictions enable hobby groups and groups for organised sport, physical activity and exercise classes to meet indoors, provided that people avoid mixing with those with whom they do not live or share a support bubble. To facilitate this, our Bookings Secretary will agree a maximum number of participants for each hiring. There are exceptions to this rule for disability sport, sport for educational purposes and supervised sports and physical activity for under-18s, although the Bookings Secretary will still need to know that the premises are not going to be over-crowded. Although theatres, concert halls and music venues may operate with restricted capacities from 2 December, we do not anticipate re-opening as a performance venue just yet. Similarly, our Monthly Market will not be re-opening for the time being.

If there are any significant changes to these restrictions, we will post an update on this site.

Those who do visit the Victoria Rooms may notice that we have replaced two of the heaters in the Main Hall, so at least you’ll be able to keep warm!

Along with many others, we have put our Christmas lights up a little earlier this year to spread some seasonal cheer. We are most grateful to Terry Field and to Richard and Lesley Westgate for their help with these.

We very much hope that we shall be able to welcome some of our hirers back from 2 December. In the meantime, we wish you all a happy and healthy Christmas and a much better 2021!
