While the re-opening of the Victoria Rooms is edging ever-closer, apart from its use as a polling station on 6 May, the Rooms are unlikely to be up and running again fully until the beginning July by which time, hopefully, the majority of the restrictions will have been lifted. We plan to re-open for limited purposes on 17 May and, if all goes to plan, the first monthly market for nearly 18 months will take place on Saturday, 3 July, when we look forward to welcoming back our stallholders and customers. As always, there will be a wide range of lovely things to buy as well as the opportunity to visit Victoria’s Café for a cuppa and a slice of delicious cake!
As mentioned previously, while there is still uncertainty around when we can re-open and any restrictions on numbers, please check this website for all the latest developments. We will also post a notice outside the Victoria Rooms.
By the time we fully re-open, all the renovation works will have been completed, including the repair and repointing of much of the external brickwork, repairs to the main step and the repainting of the front doors. We certainly now have a village hall of which we can be very proud.
Now that we are able to meet outside in small groups, you may wish to hire one of the Victoria Rooms’ gazebos, just in case the British weather lets us down – if you are interested, please give Philip a call on 01823 400609 and he can let you have some more details.
Don’t forget, if you would like to enter the photographic competition run by our insurers, Allied Westminster, to contact Lindsay Fortune on 01823 400890.
Our 100 Club winner for the April draw is Jenni Orme – well done Jenni!
One other way you can support our village hall without leaving home is by purchasing a ticket for the Somerset West Lottery and selecting the Victoria Rooms as your chosen charity. For each ticket purchased, the Victoria Rooms receives 50p. To purchase your tickets, go to the website and search for Milverton Victoria Rooms. Good luck!
