These have been very difficult times for everyone. Village life in many ways came to a halt. The village shop and the Post Office have been life-lines and their support to the community obvious to all. What also impressed us was the constant and unstinting contribution made to village welfare and well-being by Adele and Mark, and their team, at ‘The Globe’.
Introducing, very early on in the pandemic, a take-away menu and delivery service has been a boon, especially to the elderly and infirm. It has also allowed them to keep an eye on frailer villagers. On-site services, as restrictions gradually lift, have included outside drinks and meals and splendid menu changes (such as the excellent tapas). Now that we are back to inside opening, drinks and evening meals with friends and family, and the really excellent Sunday roasts are helping to restore a feeling of normality and cautious optimism. The Italian evening, the day after ‘re-opening’, was uplifting to say the least!
Thank you all for your splendid support to the community and for showing us what village pubs and shops and their owners are all about – reminding us that British customs and institutions need our future support and nurture in return.
