Milverton WI were blessed with sunshine for their first meeting, after so long, on 12 August which was held in Julia and David Hatfield’s beautiful garden. We were delighted to welcome Helene, the Vicar, as our guest. We celebrated with a cream tea with homemade jam, scones and delicious cakes all made by the Committee! Pretty vases of flowers, picked and arranged by a Committee member, were on every table.
Members had much to discuss having been deprived of meetings for over a year. Some members brought along projects they had worked on during Lockdown – a wealth of beautiful stitching and knitting. Our heartfelt thanks and appreciation go to Julia and David. Diana Smith and Sheila Hummel have worked extremely hard to arrange a series of very interesting speakers for future meetings.
The September, October, November and December meeting dates were listed in last month’s parish magazine – please note that ‘Christmas in the Work House’ will be held on December 2, not as published.
We look forward to the meeting to be held on 2 September 2021 in the Victoria Rooms when we will hear of ‘Tales from the Antiques Trade from a Craftsman’. Details will be posted outside Milverton Stores and the Victoria Rooms and visitors will be warmly welcomed.
