It has been a reasonably “normal” month at the Victoria Rooms during November – no unexpected closures, our regular hirers using the hall and our monthly market attracting the usual good crowd. Long may it continue!
Our long-awaited Quiz finally took place on Friday 12 November and, although our numbers were limited to ensure safe social distancing, there was much merriment and laughter during the evening. Our grateful thanks to Gwil and Margaret Wren for setting and running the quiz and to all who attended. A very enjoyable evening which also raised a good sum for the Victoria Rooms’ funds. The quiz was won by Lindsay Fortune and his team – well done to them and thanks to everyone who took part.
We had a couple of last-minute cancellations for tables at the November market but that didn’t stop the steady flow of customers to both the stalls and to Victoria’s Café for delicious cakes and coffee. Next month, as we approach Christmas, we are also hoping to have mulled wine on sale to get everyone in the festive spirit. If anyone would like to book a stall for a future monthly market, please contact Sally on 01823 400320 to check availability.
As usual, our 100 Club draw took place at the market and the winner for November was Shirley Blagdon – well done Shirley
With Christmas fast approaching, we will all be receiving letters and Christmas cards so, please save your postage stamps as Maggie collects and sells these on behalf of the Victoria Rooms. Maggie spends many a happy hour trimming the surrounding paper from around the stamps before parcelling them up and sending them off to convert into cash – thanks Maggie! The stamps can be dropped off in the Reading Room when the Rooms are open or you can contact Maggie on 01823 400142 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to make alternative arrangements – this is a good form of recycling which also benefits our village hall.
Don’t forget to put the date of our Victoria Rooms’ Craft Fair in your diaries. This is Saturday 19 March 2022. The Fair will run from 10am to 2pm and, in addition to the stalls in the main hall, Victoria’s Café will be open for light refreshments. Stalls cost just £10 each and a table and chairs are provided, and, as the fair is indoors, no need for a gazebo (or an umbrella!). Set-up will be available from 9am. If you would like to reserve a table or have any questions, please contact Sue on 01823 400609 or email email@example.com.
If anyone would like to help at Victoria’s Café, either at the monthly market or at any of our fundraising events, or if you would like to make a cake or other light refreshments for the Café, please contact Chris on 01823 400872 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Take a look at Victoria Rooms Facebook page which is now up and running, and kept up to date by Karen Baker and her team. Do take a look and see what is happening in our village hall.
To hire the Victoria Rooms for a new club or society meeting or for a birthday party, please contact Geoff on 01823 401365 or email email@example.com.
The Victoria Rooms’ Management Committee would like to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and let’s hope that 2022 is happier and healthier than the last two years.
