Once again, the Victoria Rooms has remained open and our regular hirers have been back enjoying their meetings in the hall. Let’s hope that this new Covid variant is not serious and we can continue meeting without too many restrictions.
Unfortunately, the Sunday after our Quiz Night (14 November) four of our yellow parking cones, used on the forecourt to enable our less mobile patrons to park near to the Rooms, went walkabout. If anyone sees them anywhere other than on the Victoria Rooms’ forecourt, please can you let Philip know on 01823 400609. They are quite distinctive, being bright yellow with a red and blue “no waiting” sign as well as “VR” in big black letters. These have now been replaced at a cost of some £40to the charity.
The December market was very well supported and Victoria’s Café did an excellent trade – which could have had something to do with the delicious mulled wine on sale! There was a great variety of items available in the main hall and we also had a very special guest in the form of no other than Father Christmas himself. If you would like to have a stall at any of our future monthly markets, please contact Sally on 01823 400320.
As usual, our 100 Club draw took place at the market and the winner for December was one of our committee, Sue Knowles – well done Sue!
Maggie is still very happy to receive used postage stamps from all our Christmas cards. These can be dropped off at the Post Office during opening hours, left in the pouch in the Reading Room at the Victoria Rooms or please contact Maggie on 01823 400142 or email email@example.com to make arrangements.
We have already had a lot of interest in stalls for Victoria’s Craft Fair on Saturday 19 March 2022 and nearly half the tables have already been booked. If you would like to reserve a table or have any questions, please contact Sue on 01823 400609 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Stalls cost just £10 each and a table and chairs are provided, and, as the fair is indoors, no need for a gazebo (or an umbrella!). Set-up will be available from 9am. The Fair will run from 10am to 2pm and, in addition to the stalls in the main hall, Victoria’s Café will be open for light refreshments.
If anyone has a little spare time they would be willing to give to help with the running of our village hall, perhaps you would like to become a Friend of the Victoria Rooms. There are many ways in which you could help such as at Victoria’s Café, at the monthly market or at any of our fundraising events – there is always something to do – even some help with putting out the chairs for an event would be very much appreciated. The Victoria Rooms’ AGM is being held on Tuesday, 11 January 2022 commencing at 5.30pm in the main hall. Members of the public are invited to attend.
