In January we had a session on getting to know the church and churchyard. Amongst other things, the children looked at an earlier church floor, rang a bell, found the bees on the kneelers, and enjoyed finding the same names occurring in the early Register of Births, on the War Memorial and on graves. In some cases these were names still familiar in the village, and where they lived and worked was known to the group.
Our next session is on Sunday 27 February at 10am in Wilscombe Woods, which is at the top of Butts Way. The topic will be Signs of Spring, and we shall be looking in particular at tawny owls, who mate in the woods in February.
If you are interested in your child joining Busy Bees, please contact me, I should love to hear from you.
