On 15 March we enjoyed a very entertaining talk from Paul Hending entitled ‘Organic Gardening including pest control’. We learnt much about the structure of soil and the benefits of organic matter. And then came ’pests’. To mitigate disease, crop rotation is used and the best way to control pests is vigilance, rapid response “when you see em, bash em,”physical barriers, timing of crops and avoiding crops that consistently succumb to pests and disease.
We are planning a trip to Rosemoor on Thursday 30 June during the Rose Festival. More details to follow.
Next month, 19 April we welcome Gavin Haig, who will be speaking about “creating a wildlife garden.”
Same time, same place, put it in your diary.
