Members were happy to welcome Lottie Dale who came to speak on her nursing career – ‘Treading the Wards, a Nurse’s Tale’. She nursed at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London. There were many amusing anecdotes and her talk was well illustrated with photographs; these underlined the huge difference in nursing between then and now – nurses wore caps and starched uniforms, and Matron was revered! Lottie is still in touch with her fellow nurses and keeps the friendship and camaraderie alive. Thank you, Lottie. Members enjoyed tea and biscuits and the chance to chat to Lottie, some members telling her their own nursing stories.
We meet again on 7 April at 2.30 pm at the Victoria Rooms when the speaker will be Zoe Fox from a well-established local charity ‘School in a Bag’. This charity is currently supporting children from Ukraine, and elsewhere, who are in desperate need. They provide educational matter for poor, orphan, vulnerable, disadvantaged and disaster affected children – hope and a lifeline. We look forward to supporting their essential efforts to help in this appalling crisis.
