In June 2021 five children came to the first Busy Bees session. A year later I have 35 children on the list, many cannot attend often, but each month between 15 and 20 children come which is very encouraging – and the original five are still coming!
This month our theme was water, its importance in our lives, and how grateful we are to have easy access to clean water compared with so many in the world. In developing countries the average round trip to collect water is 3.7 miles, and the average weight of water carried is 20 litres. We filled a container with 20 litres and the Busy Bees struggled to carry it any distance, certainly none of us felt we could manage even a mile which is 14 laps of a tennis court.
We played a game involving carrying and transferring water, and the session ended with a swim in Peter and Sue Pearson’s pool.
We all enjoyed their kind hospitality and wonderful views over Higher Lovelynch which had benefitted from the rain even if it did dampen the Big Lunch.
