Friday Club returns in September

Friday 9 September is our first meeting following our summer break. We are sure there is still plenty of sunshine and fine weather left for us to enjoy without it being quite so hot.

The past few months have been extremely challenging for us as a group due to lack of volunteers and the risk of us having to close. We must extend a huge thank you to those few volunteers who just kept volunteering week after week, without whom we could not have functioned. Better news however,, we have had lots of new interest and potential volunteers come forward so fingers crossed, the Friday Club will live on for many more years.

Each year we try to generate a one-off fund-raising activity for another local group, this year we are raising funds for Wivey Link who support us weekly by bringing members to Friday Club. Our activity this year is a sponsored walk and both members, and volunteers, are invited to join in if they wish. However, we will not be recording number of laps of the recreation ground completed but by just participating in the walk. This takes into consideration an individual’s physical abilities and level of support needed to achieve a personal goal.

Sponsorship forms can be obtained from the club or by contacting 01823 400095. Good Luck everyone. Please support generously this worthy cause and the individuals taking part.

For the following months we have also planned a wide range of weekly events for member at the Friday Club, ranging from presentations, singing, audio/visual events. These are but a few; then of course Christmas lunch, which is booked for 16 December.

Looking forward to seeing everyone back on Friday 9 September 10.30am start.

We are always looking for new volunteers to join our group, helping to set up from 9.30am, serve coffee and lunch. Times and dates can be arranged to fit in with your busy lives.

Hope to see you soon at The Pavilion, Recreation Ground Butts Way, Milverton every Friday 10.30am to 2pm
