After fifteen years of involvement, Peter Baldry has stepped down from his role as co-ordinator of the Milverton Community Speedwatch group. Members of the Speedwatch team gathered at the Cricket Club Pavilion on 23 June to acknowledge his contribution and watch PCSO Louise Fyne present him with a certificate of gratitude from the Avon and Somerset Constabulary.
Signed by Mark Shelford, the Police and Crime Commissioner, and by Paul Underhill, the Head of Road Safety, the certificate thanked him and recognised “Your generosity in contributing your time over the last 15 years has made the Milverton Community Speedwatch Scheme the success that it is and in helping make our roads a safer place for all.”
The Speedwatch activity is a nation-wide initiative intended to provide a visible reminder of local speed limits. Motorists exceeding the limit are sent a letter reminding them of that speed limit and the need for travelling at safe speeds in built-up areas.
Peter’s role as local co-ordinator has been taken on by Lesley Westgate.
