By the time this magazine is received, Somerset Opera will have presented The Gondoliers at the Victoria Rooms which is sure to have gone down a treat.
There are still a couple of vacancies on the Management Committee for new Trustees and if you are interested in helping with the running of our village hall, either as a Trustee or as a Friend, please contact Philip on 01823 400609. In particular, we are looking for an events organiser to plan fundraisers as, to meet unexpected repair and maintenance bills and to update equipment in order to keep our hall in good order for our hirers.
Entry forms for the 2023/2024 Victoria Rooms’ 100 Club will soon be available and will be sent out to everyone who has supported us over the past year. If you are new to the village or feel you would like to take part please contact Sue on 01823 400609 and she will add you to the list. Entry costs £12 a year for 12 monthly draws – 12 chances of winning the monthly £50 prize, and with only 100 members, the odds for winning are good. The draw takes place at the monthly market. March winners were Ian and Pat Scotter.
The monthly market is the first Saturday of the month, with a variety of stalls and Victoria’s Café selling delicious cakes and coffee from 10am to 12 noon. There will be no market in May due to the Coronation of King Charles III. There may be tables available at future markets so contact Sally on 01823 400320 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to book.
The Victoria Rooms will be at the centre of the Milverton Street Fair on Monday, 1 May with over 20 stallholders and Victoria’s Café. The Old Vic will be on the forecourt selling beer, cider, wine and soft drinks and all profits go to the village hall upkeep.
The weather will soon be warmer and Victoria Rooms’ gazebos are for hire if you need some shade for an outside gathering! Contact Philip on 01823 400609 to book.
Please continue to save your postage stamps and donate these to the Victoria Rooms. They can be left in the pouch in the Reading Room or posted (in an envelope) in the postbox on the wall outside. Maggie Dinning works very hard sorting and selling them on, making funds for the Victoria Rooms from something often thrown away.
