Creedwell Crafters

Calling all parish residents with an interest in arts and crafts!

We are looking for people to teach a group new skills. We are also looking for any spare arts and crafts supplies you have, we can collect.

Mostly, we are looking for people to come along for a chat and a cuppa in a warm and cosy space where we can sit and craft together.

We are going to be meeting most Wednesdays at the Creedwell Community Room. Upcoming dates:

Sanctuary crafts

A chance to try new skills in a mindful way, taking time-out in a creative environment. There will be fun and times for peaceful contemplation to help our wellbeing. At St Michael’s Church, Milverton 6pm to 9pm from Harvest Until Easter

10 Parishes Festival

10 Parishes Festival 2023

Artists from Milverton and Fitzhead will feature in this year’s 10 Parishes Festival which returns in September, running from Saturday 9 September until Sunday 17 September.

Artists’ open studios comprise the core of this biennial event. Milverton’s Penny Price will open her studio in Fore Street, showing and demonstrating her skills in contemporary designer one-off jewellery pieces.

A collective of six artists will share an exhibition at The Old School. Judy Willoughby, Nick Bickford, Kate Drew, Simon Healy, Susie Needham and Linda Wicks comprise a wide range of disciplines including calligraphy, ceramics, painting, photography, printmaking and textiles.

The Milverton Sketch Group will show a selection of their work, generated since their formation during the lockdown of 2020.

Mike Lusmore, Karen Patterson and Nigel Stone will combine their photographic expertise at Extons Barn, where Karen will also give a yoga session on Sunday 10 September.

Performances are also an integral part of the Festival with music, comedy, talks and tours throughout the nine-day period.

Nicola Werner will be holding a Christmas pottery sale at Welshes, Church Road, Fitzhead TA4 3JT or online at Nicola Werner. You will find:

Victoria’s Craft Fair

Do come along to Victoria’s Craft Fair in the Victoria Rooms in Milverton on Saturday, 12 November between 10am and 1pm.

Admission is free and this is a great opportunity to purchase some unique and beautiful Christmas gifts all made by local Somerset craftspeople.

999 Calls for the NHS present Threads of Survival

Continuing the long tradition of documenting important historical events in quilts and textiles, 999 Calls for the NHS invites you to visit a timely collection of textiles artworks reflecting pandemic life, and the importance of a public healthcare service for all.

Twenty two quilts created by over 140 stitchers from Somerset, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, South and West Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, County Durham, Manchester, Birmingham and London.

Threads of Survival premiered at the British Textiles Biennial 2021 and is now on tour and arrives at St Micheal’s Church, Milverton from Monday 28 March to Sunday 10 April, 12noon to 4pm daily. Entry is free.
